Store chain seek 40 staff

A ‘DESIRE’-brand Debenhams store opening in Dumfries town centre this summer will create about 40 new jobs, it has been confirmed.

And recruitment is already underway to find employees for the branch which will occupy the former TJ Hughes unit in the town’s High Street.

‘Do you have the passion to work for one of the UK’s leading Department stores?’ asks one of the Debenhams Retail PLC adverts.

‘A desire to give our customers first rate service and to take pride in the products you are selling?

‘Then you could be the right person for our team.’

Jobs advertised so far include a loss prevention supervisor who will oversee security, a visual assistant who will arrange window displays and a personal shopper required to advise customers from a ‘vast product knowledge’.

The Dumfries shop is set to join the existing 13 stores in the ‘Desire’ line, introduced to the Debenhams chain in 2005.

Desire stores are smaller in size than department stores, and are targeted at women shoppers.

The Desire stores stock a range of own brands and international brands in womenswear, childrenswear, lingerie, accessories and health and beauty.

Debenhams have confirmed the approximate number of employees, and that the store is being prepared with an eye towards opening in the summer.
